Fort Yargo park in Winder hosting concert, lake kayaking and a geocache hike

Fort Yargo State Park near downtown Winder soon plans to offer a series of outdoor events.

A two-hour Campfire Jam Session begins 7:30 p.m. Friday and features the bluegrass band The Stem Winders. Join the park naturalist for songs, stories and s’mores. People are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs and sign up to play your own instrument. Admission is $5 and parking is $5 per vehicle.

A Labor Day Twilight Paddle takes place 8 p.m. Sept. 4 at the beach area of Lake Marbury. Admission is $15 per person or $7 if you bring your own kayak or canoe. Advance registration is required as space is limited.

On Sept. 6, beginning at 11 a.m., the park naturalist will lead a guided geocache hike. People are encouraged to bring a smart phone or a GPS device. Admission is $2 per person with kids under 12 admitted free.
