Barrow County man given life sentence for molesting kids at day care center

An Auburn man who recently pleaded guilty to sex crimes related to the molestation of seven children at a day care center received this week a sentence of life in prison with a minimum of 50 years served before becoming eligible for parole.

The sentence was handed down Monday to Richard Paltrineri, 64, in Barrow County Superior Court.

Paltrineri was arrested in March following an investigation into the molestations of the children, including boys and girls, ages 2 to 13 years old, according to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.

Paltrineri gained access to the children because he is married to Susan Paltrineri, who operated SusanSilly Expressions Pre-School, a day-care facility in their personal home at 1442 Elliot’s Lane in Auburn, according to a sheriff’s report.

One of the victims reported the assault to the parents, who reported the matter to the sheriff’s office, authorities said.

During the investigation, deputies led by Investigator Jason Wilkerson, conducted numerous search warrants and interviews.

Paltrineri entered a plea of guilty to 27 felony charges, including child molestation, cruelty to children, aggravated sodomy and aggravated child molestation.

After Paltrineri was arrested, the state suspended the license for the day care home.
