Jackson County authorities continued to search Friday for missing Jefferson man.

Joshua Scott Adams, 25, has been missing since Tuesday.

There are no developments in the case following the ground and air searches earlier this week, Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said Friday morning.

Authorities found Adams’ abandoned vehicle on Brockton Loop near Jefferson the same day he went missing. The ground and air searches did not produce any leads, Mangum said.

Authorities have classified Adams as a missing person and plan to continue their search, making sure to exhaust every possibility and lead, Mangum said.

“We put the alert out to the media in hopes that people would come forward with new information,” the sheriff said. “As soon as something turns up, the chief investigator will alert me.”

If not found Friday, Mangum said the search for Adams will continue into the weekend.

Adams is about 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He has a tribal tattoo on his right shoulder and a tattoo of “AVA” on his right foot.

Anyone who has seen or can provide information on Adams’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at (706) 367-8718. Anyone who wants to remain anonymous can call the sheriff’s tip line at (706) 367-3784.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incident: read more...

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incident:

MONEY RECOVERED: On May 17, Deputy Bruce Cronic was dispatched to Traditions Way, Jefferson, where a woman who had collected about $700 in cash and checks during a fundraiser reported the money was gone. The woman said she placed the money in a notebook and then placed that under some towels near the tennis courts while she played. About 11 p.m. she collected the items and noticed the money was gone.

The deputy later received a call from the woman who said the notebook with the money and checks had been found in a mailbox in the subdivision.

SLANDER: On May 18, Deputy Daniel Miller was dispatched to Maysville, where a 46-year-old man reported he went into the Golden Pantry to fill his cup with hot water, which he said is free.

However, as he was walking out the door, the clerk accused him of trying to steal coffee. The man complained that a Maysville police officer was standing in the store when the clerk slandered his name and the officer did nothing about it.

The deputy told the man that if he felt the Maysville officer should have done something then he should have told the officer.

Miller spoke to the clerk who said she simply asked the man if he was getting a refill for a drink. She said the man never told her that he was only getting water. She also denied accusing him of stealing the drink.

DISPUTE: On May 17, Deputy Daniel Miller met with a 42-year-old Athens man who reported he had a problem with an employee at the J&J Flea Market, who would not let his wife set up her booth in a different building. The man complained the woman told them they needed to learn to speak English.

The deputy spoke to the employee who said she allowed the woman to move her booth and told her where she could move it, but she moved to another location of her own choosing. The complainants were then banned from the property.

DAMAGE: On May 13, Deputy Bruce Cronic was dispatched to Jackson Trail Road, Jefferson, where a woman reported her daughter visited her for Mother’s Day and brought her boyfriend along. The boyfriend made a comment about keying the complainants’s car. She said the next day she found that someone had keyed her car up one side.

CAR DAMAGED: On May 18, Deputy Joseph Chastain was dispatched to West Jefferson Street, Hoschton, where a 39-year-old woman reported she loaned her car to a woman who has not returned the car, nor responded to her telephone calls. The woman said the friend has borrowed the car before, but returned it. On May 19, deputies learned the car had been wrecked in Hall County and the woman was arrested for DUI.

ILLEGAL DUMPING: On May 15, Deputy Jonathan O’Kelley was dispatched to Whites Bottom Road, Braselton, where six bags of trash were lying on the roadside. A woman who lives at the site said trash has been dumped at the location on previous occasions and she was tired to carting it off. Some papers in the trash bags carried the name of a Gainesville resident and this information was turned over to an investigator.

DUI: On May 16, deputies responded about 3:15 a.m. to a wreck on Georgia Highway 15 at Lyle Field Road, where a Jeep Cherokee and a Ford Lincoln were involved in a crash.

The deputy spoke to one driver who smelled of alcohol and spoke with slurred speech. Vontae Sanchez Banks, 23, of Oak Lane, Jefferson, admitted he drank three Natural Light beers and two shots of vodka. Banks was charged with DUI.

THEFT: On May 13, Deputy Major Patterson was dispatched to MLK Avenue, Jefferson, where a man reported that a person staying with his aunt is stealing items from her home. The deputy spoke to the suspect, who admitted taking a six-pack of toilet paper and giving it to a neighbor. The man is being evicted from the house and must leave by June.

DISPUTE: On May 10, a deputy was dispatched to a home in Braselton, where a man and woman are in the process of a divorce and she wants to remove items from the house and her husband has objected to the removal. The deputy noticed that their divorce papers had not been signed by a judge and the woman was advised to go to the courthouse to have proper paperwork obtained.

DUI: On May 12, deputies were dispatched to a wreck on the 2400 block of Georgia Highway 330, where a Mercury car had run off the road. The driver told the deputy he didn’t have a driver’s license and explained he simply ran off the road. The man was swaying back and forth and admitted that he drank a few Corona beers. Eduardo Martinez, 28, of Hanover Place, Athens, was charged with DUI, failing to maintain lane and being an unlicensed driver.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: On May 12, a deputy was dispatched to Holly Springs Road to check on a report of a suspicious person walking in the area. The deputy located a woman, who said she was homeless and walking to get things off her mind.

DOG COMPLAINT: On May 12, Deputy Steven Bradberry was dispatched to a home on Dills Road, Jefferson, where a man and his mother said they rescued a small dog from being killed by another dog on a neighbor’s property. The owner of the two dogs could not be located. Animal control was asked to investigate the report.

HOLY SPIRIT: On May 14, Deputy Michael Stanifer was dispatched to Otis Gooch Road, Jefferson, after reports came in about a woman yelling.

The deputy parked his unit on the driveway and as he walked up to the house he heard a woman shouting, “I will end this … marriage. I will end this right now.” The deputy knocked on the door and a man answered saying nothing was going on.

Then a woman rushed out and said, “I got this. I got this. Everything is fine. I’ve got the (expletive) Holy Spirit and we are taking care of this.”

The woman was constantly moving around and refused to stop talking. The deputy tried to question the man, but the 36-year-old woman kept intervening and she was placed in handcuffs. She was cited for disorderly conduct.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents;

MOWER STALKING: On May 8, Deputy Daniel Miller was dispatched to Commerce Road, Athens, where a 39-year-old Jackson County man reported he was being followed by a man on a riding lawn mower. The man explained he would walk from one end of the property to the other and the man on the mower kept following him in an apparent attempt to keep him from leaving the property.

The deputy spoke to the offender, who denied trying to keep the man from leaving the property. He agreed to let the complainant get by him.

The complainant then left the area.

PROPERTY DISPUTE: On May 9, deputy Richard Howard was dispatched to MLK Avenue, Jefferson, where a man said his neighbor was putting up a fence and he believed he was installing the fence on his side of the property line.

When he confronted the neighbor, a dispute erupted so he called 911.

The deputy spoke to the neighbor, who said he wanted to put up a fence to separate them and he had estimated where the property line lay. Both men were advised they should have a surveyor check the property to avoid further disputes.

PROWLING: On May 9, Deputy Christopher Spears was dispatched about 11 p.m. to Creekwood Lane, Jefferson, where a person reported seeing several people walking from house to house with a light.

The deputy located a black Ford Fusion parked at the end of the street and someone walking near a house under construction with a flashlight. The deputy ordered the people to come to come in his direction and two people exited the house. The deputy asked what they were doing, and a man explained he was buying a house in the subdivision and he wanted to look at the other houses to see if they had upgrades his house didn’t have.

He further explained they were doing it at night because he works during the day. The deputy did not think they should be in the houses at night and he advised the pair, Katrina R. Turner, 34, of Auburn, and John P. Hardman, 35, of Loganville, that they were being arrested on charges of loitering and prowling. The car was registered to Turner.

DISPUTE: On May 10, Deputy Rodger Boswell was dispatched about 1:15 a.m. to a location in Maysville, where he met with a 42-year-old man who said he came home and had a dispute with his wife about a cellphone. He said she began looking through the numbers on his phone and he snatched it out of her hand.

Because the pair is getting a divorce, the deputy advised the wife she might want to stay this night at a home she is renting in Braselton.

INFECTION: On May 7, a 34-year-old Talmo woman reported that during the previous night her computer was infected by a virus called “FBI Money Pack” and information stored in the computer had been compromised. She was advised to have a fraud alert placed on her files.

DISPUTE: On May 8, Deputy Christopher Spears was dispatched to a home in Hoschton, where a 27-year-old man reported that his former boss came to his home. The man had quit working for the woman about two years ago because she had accused him of stealing. However, she now wanted him to help with a job.

When she arrived at his home, she again accused him of stealing. The man denied stealing from the woman and said he had even been questioned by police when the accusations were first made.

The deputy spoke to the woman, who told him that she has the Snellville Police Department working on the case. She was advised she needed to speak with the Snellville police and to leave the complainant’s property. She was told not to come back and she agreed to leave.

AGGRESSIVE DRIVING: On May 8, Deputy Christopher Spears was dispatched about 5:30 p.m. to I-85 to meet with a 44-year-old Lawrenceville man, who said a person in a green Ford F150 pickup threw a 10-inch bolt at his vehicle and broke the passenger side mirror.

He explained he was traveling south and saw the pickup come up quickly behind his bumper and that he activated his flashing lights and the pickup driver switched into another lane causing an 18-wheeler to slam on its brakes to avoid a collision. The green pickup then straddled both lanes, then sped ahead of him at a high rate of speed and came to stop in the middle of the interstate.

The man said he stopped as did other drivers to avoid a collision. The driver of the pickup then threw something at the complainant’s vehicle. The man then called 911, but the driver got back into the pickup and sped off. The complainant also left and was told by the 911 dispatcher to pull over at the next exit. However, the man told the communications officer he could see the green pickup stopped at the next exit and he was not going to pull over.

As he drove by the exit ramp, the offender threw the bolt, which hit the man’s mirror. The pickup driver then fled again and disappeared.

The tag on the pickup was out of Florida.

CAR UNRETURNED: On May 7, a 27-year-old Commerce woman reported that her boyfriend borrowed her car, but has failed to return it and she cannot reach him on the telephone. The car was later found in Banks County and released to the woman.

The deputy later met with the woman in Maysville and she said that after she picked up her car she realized that $291 was missing from a purse she left in the vehicle. In addition, she found another woman’s personal belongings in the car.

She told the deputy she has ended the relationship and wants to have him arrested for the theft of her money.

PEDESTRIAN ARRESTED: On May 7, Deputy Steven L. Thomas was traveling on Homer Road toward Commerce, where he saw a man riding a bicycle southbound in the northbound lane.

The deputy had to steer out of the lane to avoid hitting the man. The deputy activated his blue light and stopped the man, who was identified as Anthony Earl Collins. The man had the odor of alcohol and marijuana. Collins denied smoking marijuana, but during a search, the officer found him in possession of two burnt marijuana cigarettes.

Collins, 30, of Commerce, was taken to jail on a charge of pedestrian under the influence. A tow truck was called to take possession of the Huffy bicycle.

POOL DAMAGED: On May 7, Deputy Steven Bradberry was dispatched to Cecil Clark Road, Braselton, where a man said his neighbor’s dog had damaged his swimming pool cover by walking on it.

MECHANIC OUSTED: On May 7, Deputy Tommy Haynes met with a Hoschton garage owner, who said he hired a part-time worker, but customers told him they believed the man was committing thefts from their vehicles.

The garage owner told the man not to come back to his job, but the man then began calling him derogatory names. The deputy went to the former worker’s home and told him to say away from the business.

MEDICINE STOLEN: On May 8, a 29-year-old Hull woman met with a deputy to report that her husband, who was released from jail three days earlier, had sold her oxycodone prescription with 120 pills. She was able to get 100 pills back from her husband.

According to a press release sent Monday night by Jackson County Sheriff Janis G. Mangum, the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.

Anyone aware of any suspicious persons, crimes or other relevant information concerning the flea market should call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 367-8718 or its anonymous tip line at (706) 367-3784.

Phone calls and an email to the owner of J&J Flea Market, A.H. “Trey” Boggs III of South Carolina, were not immediately returned Monday and Tuesday.

Arthur Boggs and his family — wife Pamela and sons Trey and Bryan — bought the J&J Flea Market from Jerry Farmer in September 2007.

There are no charges against the owners. Authorities said all charges are directly related to the individual booths and their owners.

The flea market is expected to be up and running Saturday, as usual, said sheriff’s Deputy Chief Daniel Thomas.
